Battolyser Systems is looking for an Operations Engineer


As Operations Engineer, you will be part of the Operations Team, the delivery heart of our company. We are currently setting up our first assembly line to assemble the new generation of Battolyser stacks. This will be a crucial step towards achieving our mission of enabling 'Always Clean Energy'. You will use your production experience to assist in the delivery of the Battolyser stacks, and help guiding the production team through the first assembly steps and extract all the learning associated with building the world’s first full size Battolyser stacks. After finalization of these full size stacks, the activities continue by iterating on the design and assembly processes, implementing all lessons learned to achieve an improved, next-level Battolyser.


Initially, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Raise continuous improvement initiatives in the Battolyser assembly processes, using lean methodologies, focusing on improving efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Take responsibility for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring junior engineers within the team
  • Providing and improving work instructions and organization of operator training
  • Improve production tooling requirements and design
  • Assist in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), working closely with the Design department
  • Raise non conformance reports when non conformances occur, and organize the Root Cause Analysis (RCA), define and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA’s)
  • Participate in project teams and contribute to the operations team

Job requirements

About you:


We believe, to be successful in this role, you have a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant work experience. More specifically, production/manufacturing/operations engineering experience in a high-end production company. You are eager to continue building on your experience and put your know-how in practice at Battolyser. You have a strong ‘first time right’ mentality, but also understand what it takes to investigate anomalies in production and how to troubleshoot them.


You can handle projects with a large number of uncertainties, and you are able to keep all the balls in the air. You can communicate across a range of stakeholders from designers, researchers and technical teams, you are eager to learn and keen to deliver. You don’t shy away from rolling up your sleeves and assist on the work floor to get a job done. You thrive in an environment of growth that comes with continuous change and ambiguity, where new career opportunities will emerge.
